What are the symthpon of a burnt valve. Is their anyway to test for a burnt valve. My chevy s10 is running funny, if their is a steady peadle say at 35mph, it jurks or it sounds like it is missing you can feel it jurking, and also hear it like it is missing. Can you help me out with what it might be. Already changed plugs, wires, distributor, did a compressing check. Is their anything that I'm missing. Really need help.

The compression test is the method to check for a burnt valve I would check the fuel filter this is a speed they cause problems on your vehicle for some odd reason. transmission would be my next guess shift into 3rd gear so it does not go into overdrive and see if it improves if so there is a kit to raise the lock in speed.

Ok I'll check the fuel filter and do the compression test once again. Ok now my S10 is automatic so when you say put it in 3rd so that it doesn't go into overdrive, should i run it in just drive or put it into a lower gear. I really not sure what to do with a automatic. Thanks I'll go ahead and try the other two things, and wait to see what you tell me about how to do the automatic part of it.

I may have lead you astray I assumed all S-10 were overdrive but depending on the options some were not. How many drive positons do you have 1,2,and drive or do you have a 3rd and drive. I would still check the fuel filter if you did the compression check correctly the first time I see no need to repeat and if I read your post correctly it runs fine at idle and up to 35 MPH. If so I doubt it has a dead cylinder.
If you dont have a 3rd and drive position and if you can do it without putting to much of a strain on the engine run it up to 35 in second and see what happens.
